Quality/Safety Inspector-Auditor (QSIA)

Reports directly to Quality/Safety Manager (QSM). His/her function include:

  1. a) To periodically test and assess quality control systems. QSIA is expected to work with departmental managers to develop corrective action plans as applicable;
  2. b) QSIA shall report to the QSM who in turn will report to the Accountable Manager. It follows that QSIA have the authority of the QSM to demand access to any area of the company that they may be required in the execution of their duties;
  3. c) Carry out planned audits as determined by the published audit schedule in accordance with the procedures laid down in this quality manual;
  4. d) Carry out audits on aircraft to ensure that high standards of maintenance and workmanship prevail, and that mandatory modification and inspections have been incorporated in accordance with the manufacturers’ and authorities’ requirements;
  5. e) On behalf of the QSM, survey the aircraft maintenance at base and line stations plus any contracted sites used by EAL;
  6. f) Carry out audits on all activities related to Flight Operation to ensure that high standards of aircraft operation prevails and that manufacturer and authority recommendations are adopted;
  7. g) Carry out audits on flight and ground operations at base and line station plus and subcontractors used by EAL;
  8. h) Determine whether an aircraft is suitable for Certificate of Airworthiness Renewal;
  9. i) May be designated by the QSM, to support in the certification of aircraft newly acquired;
  10. j) Carry our investigation of all Near-Miss safety reporting and other incidents involving safety that require an input from the Safety & Quality department in which an unbiased opinion must be provided;
  11. k) Carry out training in company procedures;
  12. l) Carry out any other duties within the field of quality control and assurance as assigned by the QSM;

Qualifications:

The QSIA qualification consists of candidate education, training, experience and abilities:

  1. a) Education: Higher aeronautical education or equivalent;
  2. b) Experience: Substantial years of experience (not less than 4 years) in civil aircraft maintenance and operational activities and in a Quality Management System functions. Involvement in a Safety Management System function shall be required as well;
  3. c) Training: Quality and Safety Auditing and Regulatory training. Techniques in Auditing covered;
  4. d) Abilities: Organised, good communicating skill, competence in clearly and fluently expressing concepts and ideas orally and in writing, remarkably objective, safety inclined;

In addition,

  1. e) Knowledge of the documentation associated with mandatory requirements for aircraft maintenance, flight operations and other operational activities as specified in Nig. CARs Part 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 20, and EAL’s internal requirements;
  2. f) Trained with adequate understanding of the concepts and aims of Quality and Safety Management System, Airworthiness and Quality/Safety Audits;
