RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide safety concerns and Safety audit findings to senior management personnel forappropriate corrective actions;
- Maintain close liaison with the regulatory authorities on Flight safety issues
- Is responsible in conjunction with the Quality/Safety Manager, for ensuring effectiveness of the HEMP (Hazard and Effect Management Process) as detailed in the EALL SMS.
- Is responsible to keep the Accountable Manager informed in the event of any reported Flight Safety gaps not being adequately attended to by the relevant person or inrespect of any disagreement over the nature of a gap.
- In conjunction with the Quality/Safety Manager, conduct investigations required following receipt of Occurrence Reports.
- Identification of flight safety hazards and Control of SMS Manual and its implementation.
- Other responsibilities as documented in the EALL SMS Manual.
QUALIFICATION
The person assigned as the Flight Safety Manager shall have some extensive operational management experience and established professional qualifications in aviation with knowledge and understanding of aviation accident prevention, safety auditing, and flight safety programs and standards and safe flight operating practices. The qualifications of the Safety Manager may be any or some of thefollowing:
- A degree or equivalent in aviation;
- A commercial pilot or airline transport
- A certificate in safety management;
- A flight dispatcher license or flight operations officer authorization or military equivalent.
